St Michael's Middle School

Remembrance Day 2024

Pupils from St. Michael's Middle School were involved in activities to mark Remembrance Day 2024.

Pupils from the school attended the annual St. Michael's Church Remembrance Sunday parade from the church to the memorial. Representatives from the school carried our giant poppies, which had a separate hand-made poppy from every child in the school fastened to the front, to the War Memorial and laid them on behalf of all the pupils in the school. Many other pupils from the school were involved through their membership of the Scouts and Guides movements. All joined with the local community to come together and observe a two-minute silence. The school also came together on the playground the following day, the 11th November, to hold a two-minute silence to mark the occasion. Pupils from the school sold poppies and other remembrance items, and we were able to donate £189.40 to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.
