Cyber Sisters Team visit JPMorgan

The Bournemouth campus of global company JPMorgan welcomed a dynamic group of students from St Michael’s Middle School, Wimborne, as part of an inspiring Technology Women in Leadership event. The visiting students, known as the ‘Cyber Sisters’, are an all-girls STEM team dedicated to empowering young women through hands-on technology experiences and digital skills.

The day began with a warm welcome and introduction from JPMorgan’s organisers, followed by an engaging overview of career pathways in technology. Senior leaders Gemma Moffat and Milinda Harding, alongside a host of talented apprentices, shared their personal journeys, offering invaluable advice on navigating careers, building networks, and supporting one another in the tech industry.

A standout moment of the event was the hands-on Tech for Social Good Machine Learning Workshop, led by a dedicated team of volunteer technologists and apprentices. During the session, students explored practical strategies for developing effective AI prompts, gaining valuable insight into the difference between basic and well-crafted instructions. Through collaborative activities, participants designed a range of imaginative Lego houses, fostering both creativity and teamwork. The workshop not only sparked enthusiasm and laughter, but also deepened students’ appreciation for how technology and creative problem-solving go hand-in-hand—demonstrating JPMorganChase’s commitment to empowering the next generation of innovators.

The Cyber Sisters also enjoyed a guided tour of the Bournemouth campus, including visits to the Incident and Controls rooms, Innovation Lab, and Collaboration Spaces. The ‘Green Team’ provided insights into JPMorgan’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, demonstrating how technology can be harnessed for positive social impact.

Throughout the day, the students were supported by apprentices and mentors, who encouraged teamwork, curiosity, and confidence. The event included a panel discussion, feedback session, and a few special takeaways to inspire the next generation of female tech leaders.

This collaborative event showcased the power of partnership between industry and education, highlighting the opportunities available to young women in STEM. The enthusiasm and creativity of the Cyber Sisters, combined with the expertise and encouragement from JPMorgan’s team, made for a memorable and impactful experience for all involved. A fantastic example of how JPMorgan is helping to shape the future
