Platinum School Games Award - 6th Year in a Row!

We are delighted to announce that we, St Michael's Middle School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year (6th year in a row).

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our Sporting and PE Achievements This Year: - Success Across a Range of Sports: Achieved strong results in local, regional, and national events. - High Participation Rates: Over 70% of pupils took part in extracurricular sport and PA. - Inclusive Opportunities: Delivered targeted events for disadvantaged and SEND pupils. - Leadership Development: Year 8 pupils led physical activity sessions in First Schools. - Swimming Provision: Provided more pupils with access to swimming than any other local school. - A Holistic PE Curriculum: Delivered an inclusive curriculum with meaningful experiences for all.

With a large total of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to all the staff, students and parents at St Michael's who have supported PE, Sport and Physical Activity.

We look forward to applying once again in 2026!
