Special Worship Events

Throughout the school year, we have a number of special worship events that pupils are invited to participate in. These events supplement the daily Acts of Collective Worship, giving pupils to take part in a biblical service marking key dates in the Christian calendar.

Christingle Service
The Christingle service is held in the school hall as part of our celebrations of Advent. During the service, we look at the importance of light in worship and take an opportunity to be still and reflect upon the events of Christmas.  The service is conducted by Vicar Suzanne from St. Michael's Church and we have different services for the pupils in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. The service starts off with the hall lights on and finishes with the hall lit by the many candles.
Every child in the school is given the opportunity to make their own Christingle during class-based collective worship the week before the event. Pupils will bring their Christingles to the hall and, in the central part of the service, will pass the light from one person to another until all the Christingles are lit. We sit and listen to music and reflect on the light surrounding us. This is a truly wonderful and spiritual moment that pupils remember for a long time afterwards,
