Additional Home Learning Resources

Here is a list of links to additional activities for children with some guidance with what is included for pupils.

All Subjects.

Education Quizzes  - educational quizzes to help with all areas of the curriculum. Part of this website is free to use.

National Geographic  - lots of different activities covering all areas of the curriculum. You need to register either as a child or parent. When you download resources it comes with teaching ideas/activities that can be done with the resources.

Crickweb -  games and activities for all areas of the curriculum.

Hamilton Trust​​​​​. -  they are putting together packs for parents to use at home. You can download them from here.

BBC Bitesize - they are putting resources together

Maths

Corbett Maths - a brilliant website full of video, worksheets, and answers, for pretty much every topic of maths. Use the 5 a day feature (as well as any other resources you care to look at). It is broken down into primary and GCSE 9-1. KS3 students use GCSE questions but choose foundation.

Maths for Everyone   Children at both KS2 and KS3 do the following: Go to the Maths Arcade link, play the match up games (playing face down is VERY difficult, at least for me...) 
KS2 - go to the SATs questions by topic. KS3 - go to the GCSE questions by topic - choose examples where the questions are stated as "foundation".

Khan Academy - this website is free but you will need to sign up with an email address, username and password. There are some activities covering arithmetic, geometry and some basic algebra.

Maths Chase - Free times table tests

Transum - Free mathematical activities, puzzles, problems, visual aids, investigations and lots more.

English

Phonics Play a great website for children who find spelling a little tricky. 

Epic - Free 30-day trial. Instant access to a range of books (age 12 and under)

Spellingframe  -some games need to be accessed using a logon, however, there are lots of free games for every spelling pattern children should be learning from Year 1 to Year 6.

History

60-Second Histories - 60 second histories is an online film resource that delivers history for children in a simple and engaging format. Most of the clips have an online quiz to complete at the end. They offer some video clips for free ( https://www.squaducation.com/60second-histories-search?vtype%5B0%5D=286 ) The main website is currently offering a 2 week free trial, however you will need to sign up.

Science

Developing Experts  - Developing Experts brings science into your home through online lessons and resources. The children can use this to recap prior learning from the classroom to ensure the knowledge is fully embedded. This is a paid for site, however they are offering a free 14-day trial.

Terrific Scientific. - Terrific Scientific brings science to life with investigations and exciting resource

Khan academy is also good for science.

Surfing Scientist -  Demo’s, activities etc

Sublime Science   - Fun science experiments that you can do at home.

clubscikidzmd  - Provides a daily experiment that you can do with household items to keep those inquisitive minds ticking. 

mysteryscience  - includes 5 minute lessons on science topics and also longer sessions which include experiments that can be completed at home.

Physical Education

The Body Coach TV (You Tube) - ‘5 Minute Move Kids Workouts’.

gonoodle  - an app you can download to keep you moving. More suitable for KS2.

Computing

Scratch  - With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games and animations.

Geography

National Geographic   - Information and games for children.

French

St. Michaels French Resources

Duolingo   - You will need to sign up but your child should be able to use their school account to do this. This website then encourages 5 minutes a day to help them stay on top of their French learning.

Music

Musicteachers.co.uk  - this part of the website has some fun games that children can play. They focus on a range of skills, such as listening to notes, completing musical notations and musical word searches.

GarageBand -  a useful app where children  can create music. For apple only, unfortunately.

 greatbritishhomechorus  - a fun project that you could get involved in as a family.

Design Technology

 The best way to participate in design technology at home is by cooking and crafting. However, if you want to learn about the theory behind the subject, we would suggest
